Africa’s future development starts with specialist infrastructure design

Ilifa specialises in the fields of structural and industrial engineering, residential and township developments, engineering solutions for roads and transportation, water and sanitation, water conservation and demand management.

We understand geospatial imperatives for asset management, environmental management and waste management. We have the experience and the knowhow to handle contracts and projects across Africa.

We work in a range of fields in the civil, structural and environmental sectors:

In order to ensure the successful implementation of our engineering designs we provide the following services

  • Contract administration
  • Contract dispute resolution
  • Quality control assurance
  • Commissioning
  • Closure reports
  • Project Management
  • Project coordination & implementation

Our Environmental Engineering division was established to design environmental and safety-sensitive solutions that support and strengthen the environment to cope with the ever-increasing human demand for commodities and economic development.

In particular our environmental engineering service targets:

  • Municipalities and township developers require stormwater and sewage pollution solutions
  • The industrial and mining sectors need to comply with legal requirements regarding stormwater management, pollution control, industrial and domestic sewage treatment, and so forth.

Ilifa provides the following environmental engineering services:

  • Stormwater management plans
  • Pollution prediction and prevention plans
  • Industrial effluent treatment
  • Wastewater treatment
  • Groundwater flow modelling and pollution assessments
  • Sludge dams
  • Environmental screening
  • Environmental scoping
  • Environmental auditing and compliance (ISO 14001)
  • Basic Assessments (BA)
  • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Environmental Management Plans (EMP)
  • Water Use Licence (WUL) applications
  • Waste licence applications
  • Specialist studies
  • Rehabilitation plans
  • Wetlands delineation, assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Contract & Project Management

The Ilifa Spatial Services division has developed proprietary Asset Maintenance Management Strategy (AMMSTRAT) web-based software that offers the full spectrum of maintenance management requirements. AMMSTRAT applies to various disciplines such as the construction of roads, road furniture, cemetery management, and water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure. The system has been developed using sound spatial principles (GIS) and its robust database and linked visual representation are key components.

We offer the following Geospatial services:

  • Geographic Information System (GIS) functionality capabilities.
  • Development of infrastructure layout and attribute compilations.
  • Remote field data collection services.
  • Web-enabled spatial browser viewing facilities
  • GIS backbone support for all the aforementioned disciplines.

We stay abreast of the latest appropriate technologies, environmental requirements and economic constraints relevant to residential and township development.

We are able to provide our client with the best suitable solutions for :

  • Arterials, internal streets and bus routes
  • Stormwater drainage
  • Water and sewer reticulation
  • Rudimentary services such as stand taps, pit latrines and low-water-demand sanitary systems
  • Low-cost housing

Ilifa’s Roads Division specialises in the design of transport infrastructure, in particular for new gravel or paved roads, as well as the rehabilitation of existing roads and pavement management systems.
Our expertise includes conceptual and detailed design – from route alignment, geometric design, material investigation, flood determination, capacity analysis and pavement design, through to tender documentation and implementation.

Our transport infrastructure expertise includes:
